Please send us your art to have mounted! The newspaper page of your child at soccer practice, or the picture your grandchild drew in art class. The Mounting Order Formis available for you to place an order.
Most items that are paper-based are perfect candidates for custom mounting on wood.
Wood mounted items will NOT come off! That's what makes it so perfect for so many things, but be aware that collectible and valuable items should not be mounted.
The item being done is permanently pressure-mounted to a solid, yet light-weight, 3/8 inch thick wood backing. This backing is cut with beveled edges and is then painted with one of 25 color options. The painted, beveled edge shows around the artwork being mounted, creating an attractive, subtle framed effect.
Since there is no glass in front of wood-mounted pieces, a protective, matte finish, acrylic coating is applied to the surface of the artwork, making it resistant to dust, minor soiling, and fading.
A wood-mounted piece comes with sturdy metal sawtooth hangers attached to it's back. Weight is not a problem. Do not worry about finding wall studs. Even the largest pieces hang securely on sheet rock walls alone.
This process is very similar to the Plak mounting styles seen in Canada and Europe.
Although most paper based items and photos are perfect on wood, a few items do not work as well. These items include chalk drawings on black paper, and multiple layers. Please call or email us if you are unsure about your art.
